Established in 1970, the Miriam Foundation supports rehabilitative, vocational and residential services and programs that foster increased socialization and community integration for children and adults living with intellectual disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Foundation, through the Lou Greenberg association owns and manages 18 adapted community homes which offer a caring and supportive environment and promote inclusion.  The Miriam Foundation also undertakes research and educational initiatives of a national scope through its Abe Gold Learning & Research Centre, including conferences and training and a bilingual national web portal (autism Central). The Miriam Foundation publishes Exceptional Family, a national resource magazine for Parents and caregivers of children with cognitive and physical special needs.

Gold Centre:
At the Gold Centre, our primary goal is to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families. We do this by addressing the gaps that exist in the fields of service delivery, knowledge and research.

Who are people with developmental disabilities? Well, first and foremost, they are people. They are our fellow citizens with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities or developmental delays. The number of people with developmental disabilities is estimated to be between 1% and 3% of total Canadian population.

Our focus:  Services. Research. Knowledge.

We are an innovative not-for-profit organisation, generously supported by our partners at the Miriam Foundation, which has been meeting the needs of Canadians with developmental disabilities for over thirty years. We address the gaps that exist in responding to the needs of people with developmental disabilities by creating, designing and implementing innovative programmes and services.
