We are looking to hire one part-time music therapist for the Recreational and Therapeutic Arts Program. The music therapist implements learning strategies for autistic and intellectually challenged adults (15+)
Qualifications
- Music therapy education and practice
- Minimum 2 years experience working with autistic and neurodevelopmentally challenged people.
- Teaching adults in community settings is an asset.
- Bilingual (verbal and written communication in English and French)
Roles and Responsibilities
The music therapist will work closely with the program coordinator to achieve the following tasks:

- plan and conduct music and dance activities with 15+ autistic and neurodevelopmentally challenged individuals.
- Create an encouraging, engaging, and stimulating environment for all participants.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding to the needs and interests of each participant.
- Have adequate knowledge of the versatility of music and dance therapy approaches.
- Provide one to one instruction to adapt the needs of participants.
- Document observations and evaluations about each participant overall progress.
- Communicate with parents or caregiver and follow up with each learner’s progress.
- Perform other Administration duties (registration and consent, Learners’ profile, and documentations.
Requirements
- Able to work in community settings with interdisciplinary team
- Excellent organizational and inter-communication skills
- Collaboration with program’s coordinator in day-to-day activities planning
- Demonstrate patience, respect, and empathy
- Complete a criminal record check
- Have complete or will complete a workplace First Aid Course
