Music Therapist

We are looking to hire one part-time music therapist for the Recreational and Therapeutic Arts Program. The music therapist implements learning strategies for autistic and intellectually challenged adults (15+) 


  • Music therapy education and practice
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with autistic and neurodevelopmentally challenged people.
  • Teaching adults in community settings is an asset.
  • Bilingual (verbal and written communication in English and French)

Roles and Responsibilities

The music therapist will work closely with the program coordinator to achieve the following tasks:

    • plan and conduct music and dance activities with 15+ autistic and neurodevelopmentally challenged individuals.
    • Create an encouraging, engaging, and stimulating environment for all participants.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding to the needs and interests of each participant.
    • Have adequate knowledge of the versatility of music and dance therapy approaches.
    • Provide one to one instruction to adapt the needs of participants.
    • Document observations and evaluations about each participant overall progress.
    • Communicate with parents or caregiver and follow up with each learner’s progress.
    • Perform other Administration duties (registration and consent, Learners’ profile, and documentations.



    • Able to work in community settings with interdisciplinary team
    • Excellent organizational and inter-communication skills
    • Collaboration with program’s coordinator in day-to-day activities planning
    • Demonstrate patience, respect, and empathy
    • Complete a criminal record check
    • Have complete or will complete a workplace First Aid Course
