Supported by the Miriam Foundation, the Creative Arts Centre is part of the Gold Centre for Learning and Research, whose mission is to develop services, conduct research, and promote knowledge transfer while offering programs that support neurodivergent individuals of all ages, including those with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, global developmental delay, and other neurodevelopmental disorders, so they can reach their full potential.
The Creative and Therapeutic Arts Program Summer Camp is designed for youth and adults aged 15 and over who are on the autism spectrum or have other mild to moderate neurodevelopmental disorders. The assistant works closely with participants, creative arts therapists, and artists to help create a stimulating, supportive, and adapted environment that responds to participants’ needs and fosters their development.
Duration and schedule: Part-time from July 6 to July 31, and full-time from August 3 to August 21, 2026.
- Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from July 6 to July 31 (7.5-hour days, plus a 1-hour team meeting every two weeks, for an average of 23 hours per week)
- Wednesday and Thursday may be added from August 3 to August 21 (7-hour days, for an average of 37 hours per week)
Responsibilities:
- Support creative arts therapists and artists in setting up workshops and ensuring their smooth delivery.
- Take care of participant arrival, departure, and transition periods throughout the day.
- Provide support to participants with daily routines and practical tasks.
- This may include accompanying participants to the locker room, ensuring they have their lunch, and cleaning materials or equipment after activities.
- Help maintain participant engagement by contributing to activities that are enjoyable, motivating, and creative.
- Support the expression and regulation of emotions through the arts, based on participant needs and under the guidance of the creative arts therapist or artist.
- Share relevant observations about participants with the team in a collaborative manner.
Ideal candidate:
- Experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including people on the autism spectrum or with mild to moderate neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Must be of legal working age.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
