Supported by the Miriam Foundation, the Creative Arts Centre is part of the Gold Centre for Learning and Research. Our mission is to develop services, advance research, and share knowledge while offering programs that support neurodivergent people of all ages, including individuals with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, global developmental delay, or other neurodevelopmental disorders so they can reach their full potential.
The Creative and Therapeutic Arts Program welcomes children, adolescents, and adults from age 3 onward. Working closely with the program coordinator, artists, creative arts therapists, and participants, the assistant helps create a warm, stimulating, and inclusive environment that supports each person’s needs, participation, and development.
Duration and schedule: Part-time (16 hours/week)
- Wednesdays and Thursdays from August 5, 2026 (8-hour days)
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays from August 25, 2026 (8-hour days)
Salary: $21/hr
Responsibilities:
- Support the animation of arts services by welcoming participants arriving by adapted transport, assisting the creative arts therapist or artist during group sessions, preparing art materials, co-facilitating community art workshops (Art Hives), and assisting participants with daily routines such as lunch, storing belongings, and tidying materials.
- Maintain positive communication with families and community partners by responding to emails and phone calls and helping promote the Arts Centre’s activities to schools and organizations.
- Provide administrative support for event planning, registration management, follow-up on maintenance and cleaning needs, updates to internal documents, and the creation of visual materials such as flyers and posters.
- Contribute to the life of the Creative Arts Centre by supporting internal communication, coordinating programming needs, participating actively in team meetings, and helping with shared projects such as exhibitions and special events.
Ideal candidate:
- Experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including people with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental profiles.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Bilingualism in French and English is required.
- A genuine interest in the arts and inclusive community work.
