8th ART AUCTION for AUTISM
8th Annual Miriam Foundation Art Auction for Autism
Our 8th Art Auction Raised a Record Amount!
The Miriam Foundation raised $160 000 during its 8th annual Art Auction for Autism, on October 25th at Espace 3550. The funds raised will benefit children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and intellectual disabilities. Since our first auction in 2010, the Miriam Foundation’s Art Auction has raised over $1,000,000.
The highlight of the evening was the painting “Le Printemps, rue Bagot, Québec” from 1973, by the legendary John Little which sold for $ 27,000. We were also honored to have a painting by Yehouda Chaki “Spring Landscape” that sold for $ 6,000, as well as another piece by Maxwell Bitton (a 27 year-old artist with autism). Other Montreal artists such as Antoine Tava, Clio Honig, André Monet, Robert Rahal to name a few, generously supported our cause.
Over 170 guests contributed to the evening’s success and enjoyed the live auction benefitting Early Intervention Programs supported by the Miriam Foundation. Our emcee and auctioneer was CTV Montreal’s very talented Mose Persico. The guests were also touched by the heart-warming testimonial of Shazma Nawaz, mother of a 4-year-old son diagnosed with ASD. She described the challenges her family has faced from diagnosis through treatment. Her son is making great progress, thanks in large part to the support and expertise of the Foundation’s early intervention program.
A special thank you to our dedicated Art Committee, chaired by Carol Tryansky, Judy Wolfe, Franki Yanofsky and Jeannette Hoffman-Zaffir,as well as committee members: Sam Gold, Ellana Kent, Rachel Cobrin-Kramer, Deborah Malin, Lisa McConnell, Vanessa Sicotte, Rebecca Wolfe, Mandy Wolfe and Peter Yanofsky.
