7th ART AUCTION for AUTISM
7th Annual Miriam Foundation Art Auction
Miriam Foundation is delighted to announce the extraordinary success of its 7th annual Art Auction for Autism held on October 10th, 2017 at Parisian Laundry/Espace 3550. Over $156,000 has been raised to benefit children diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities.
Over 260 people made the evening’s accomplishments possible and enjoyed the live art auction benefitting the Miriam Foundation’s early intervention services.
Some of the evening’s highlights included the sale of a painting by John Little entitled “Rue Plessis vers Rue Logan d’autrefois” for $7,000 and one by Yehouda Chaki “"Yellow flowers" for $5,5000. Both master pieces were especially painted for our Art Auction. Also, we were honored to have in our auction a painting from Maxwell Bitton, a 24 year old artist living with autism, a native from Montreal.
A heartfelt thank you to Cat Around Films for this extraordinary video.
Our emcees and auctioneers were the extraordinary Josh Silver and the incredible Mose Persico from CTV Montreal. Committee member Vanessa Siccotte, who is also a design stylist, blogger and TV personality, shared her personal story about her son, Teddy, who is autistic and she called him “a miracle”.
Thanks to the generosity of our guests, artists, sponsors, volunteers and donors, we will continue to support the early intervention services for children diagnosed with autism. Research has proven that early intervention for children with autism is of critical importance. Unfortunately, once diagnosed, children are subject to long waiting lists to receive services, often becoming too old for public services before their names reach the top of waitlists. In response to this problem, the evidence-based Abili-T Program was created to provide immediate treatment for these children – and it requires sustained recurrent funding.
The Miriam Foundation would like to thank everyone who participated in making the art auction an evening to remember!
Special thank you to our Art Committee with committee chairs Jeannette Hoffman-Zaffir, Carol Tryansky, Judy Wolfe and Franki Yanofsky as well as our committee members: Deborah Malin, Rosemary Niro, Nadia Niro, Rebecca Wolfe, Amanda Wolfe, Jackie Yermus, Lisa McConnell, Ellana Kent, Vanessa Sicotte, Rachel Cobrin-Kramer for their efforts and dedicated time.
