The 54th Annual Lori Black Memorial Golf Tournament Most Successful Ever

The Miriam Foundation raised almost $ 500,000 through its 54th Annual Lori Black Memorial Golf Tournament at the Hillsdale Golf and Country Club in Mirabel on August 20 th, 2018.
(Montreal, August 22nd, 2018): Thanks to the leadership and hard work of Honorary Chair Herbert Black,Chair Norman Bercovitch and Committee Members Véronique Black, Louis Ludwick, Adam Ray, Steve Shepherd and Howard Staviss, the 54th Lori Black Memorial Golf Tournament at the Hillsdale Golf and Country Club in Mirabel raised close to $500 000 for the Miriam Foundation.
“We are proud that our annual golf tournament has become a must-do event on the summer calendar of Montreal’s business community,” noted Tony Meti, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Miriam Foundation. “Their participation and commitment reflects increased public awareness of the valuable work our Foundation does in support of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and intellectual disabilities (IDs). Funds raised at the tournament will be used to support our programs and services including the Abili-T and Trampoline programs at the Gold Centre and diagnostic services at See Things My Way.”
Among the 222 golfers participating in the tournament were hockey legends Vincent Damphousse, Yvan Cournoyer and Guy Carbonneau, Mose Persico from CTV News Montreal and Jason Devine from Bell Media, David Kozloff, Jacques Aubé from Evenko, Denis Dupuis from Quebec Stevedoring Co., Robert Gemmell from Toronto, Tony Loffreda and Miles Leutner from RBC. One of the highlights of the match was a hole in one by Mathieu Noel.
At the reception emceed by the extraordinary Mose Persico, form CTV Montreal, the guests were touched by the moving and heart-warming testimonial of Shazma Nawaz, a mother of a 4-year-old son diagnosed with an ASD. She described the challenges her family has faced through diagnosis to treatment and the progress her son is making in large part due to the support and professionalism of the team at the Gold Centre.
“The most gratifying part of our work is the life-changing impact we have on people with ASDs and IDs,” explained Warren Greenstone, President and CEO of the Miriam Foundation. “The funds we raise through the golf tournament and other activities go directly to making a difference in people’s lives. We are indeed grateful to our supporters for their generosity and their compassion.”

The Honorary Chairman also conducted a live auction where unique pieces were auctioned off including two Air Canada Foundation tickets, unique golf clubs from “The Masters” and two original Montreal red forum seats. The guests of honour were able to finish off the day with an exclusive dinner at the exquisite home of Herb and Veronique Black.
