Miriam Foundation's 10th Annual Art Auction for Autism
It is no secret that the Miriam Foundation’s 10th Annual Art Auction was a success. Over 150 members of the community gathered and contributed to the evening’s success on October 13, 2022, at Jardin Royalmount for an evening of glamour, art and a cause - support individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disabilities (ID) and their families and increase public awareness surrounding ASD and ID.
Over $130,000 was raised, which will allow the Foundation to continue to play an important role along the lifelong journey of individuals with ASD and ID. Today, 1 in 50 children is diagnosed yearly, with publicly funded services in the province of Quebec leaving an estimated 1,000 children under the age of six on prohibitively long waitlists for intensive behavioral therapy.
Without our partners and community members, who make the concerted effort to give back and strongly believe in our mission, we would be unable to continue to provide services and, most importantly, subsidize the high cost of these services. We hear it time and time again: The Miriam Foundation changes lives.
Those in attendance enjoyed the live auction led by the esteemed Lee Haberkorn, host of ‘Lee in the Afternoon’ on 959 Virgin Radio. Some of the evening’s highlights included the sale of the paintings “Summer Suite” by Yehouda Chaki for $6,000 and “Quarter Time” by the Canadian art master Richard Roblin. The Miriam Foundation and Art Committee are forever grateful for Richard Roblin’s contributions to Fine Arts, the Miriam Foundation’s cause, and Canadian Art Heritage. We were also honoured to have a piece by Maxwell Bitton, a 30-year-old artist with autism.
The Miriam Foundation would like to thank the guests, artists, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and service partners for their participation and generosity.
